Bare was never meant to be just another product company.
Yes, we care about making a good bar of soap — something clean, simple, well-made, and worth using every day. But from the beginning, we wanted this company to stand for something bigger than the product itself.
For our family, SYNGAP1 is not an abstract cause. It is personal. It affects how we think about the future, how we measure progress, and how we define what really matters. When your life is touched by a rare disorder like SYNGAP1, you learn very quickly how much of the world still does not know about it, and how badly more research, more support, and more urgency are needed.
That is why Bare plans to give 10% of total profits to CureSYNGAP1, a nonprofit focused on accelerating the science to cure SYNGAP1 and supporting affected families. CureSYNGAP1 describes itself as a global group of families committed to accelerating the science to cure SYNGAP1 while supporting one another, and the organization funds research, supports registries, connects families, and helps build the infrastructure needed for better treatment and future clinical progress.
The need is real. CureSYNGAP1 reports more than $8.075 million in funds committed, 1,707 patients counted, and ongoing work around registries, grants, clinical trials, and family support resources. That tells you two things at once: real momentum exists, and much more funding is still needed. Rare disease work does not move forward on awareness alone. It needs money, organization, data, research participation, and sustained public commitment.
For us, this is not a side note to the brand. It is part of the reason we want to build the brand well.
Our hope is that Bare can grow into more than a soap company. Long term, I would like to help build a SYNGAP-focused foundation of our own through the company — something that could directly support families, raise awareness, and contribute more meaningfully as the business becomes strong enough to do that responsibly. That part is still ahead of us, but the intention is real from day one.
So when someone buys from Bare, they are not just buying a bar. They are helping us build something with a wider purpose: a small company from Medford, Oregon trying to make a solid product, grow honestly, and send part of that growth toward something that desperately needs more backing.
We are starting small. But we are starting with purpose.
